The real story of the 2020 state legislative sessions may be that some states are seeking to move beyond bans on specific products like plastic bags or polystyrene containers to impose comprehensive regulatory frameworks for managing the disposal of all products and their packaging.
Omnishopper Size of the Prize
For the past few years, FMI has partnered with Nielsen on important research that does just that—pauses and looks at the state of the omnichannel marketplace for grocery shoppers and reflects on what is happening. In the beginning we focused on digital shoppers—their activities and the business imperatives needed to reach them. This year, we’re focusing on omnishoppers—consumers who shop both online and in-store—and looking at their demographics, what they purchase online, and, most importantly, re-evaluating the size of the prize.
The Food Industry’s 2020 Retail Food Safety Priorities
The food industry is entering a new, critical food marketplace that’s focused on advancing technology, digitalization and information sharing. FMI organized a meeting with the FMI Food Protection Committee to set this year’s top food safety initiatives to strengthen the industry’s leadership and commitment to protecting public health.
