Our Purpose and Commitment

OMEGA is a West Virginia-based organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the business interests of the state’s petroleum marketing, retail grocery, and convenience store industries.

As a network of over 225 locally owned businesses, OMEGA actively promotes cooperation, advocates for favorable legislation, and provides education and resources to its members. With over 50,000 employees, OMEGA members significantly contribute to the state’s economy, generating more than 10% of all state taxes and supporting local communities through scholarships, charitable donations, and civic involvement.

OMEGA is committed to fostering industry growth while serving West Virginians with essential services like fuel, food, and convenience.

Your Essential Connection in West Virginia

OMEGA offers three types of membership: Convenience Store Members, Petroleum Marketer Members, and Grocer Members, all of which play a vital role in providing fuel, food, and essentials across West Virginia. As a liaison with state and national agencies, OMEGA works closely with organizations like NACS, PMAA, FMI, and the N.G.A. to advocate on behalf of its members.

We keep members informed through newsletters, legislative updates, an online resource hub, and educational seminars. Additional member benefits include access to the Encova Workers’ Compensation Discount Program and participation in our annual Trade Expo and fundraising efforts for children’s charities. OMEGA is here to support, advocate, and enhance the success of our industry members.

We need more stories of comity that feed our spirits in acts of human kindness. Our Community Outreach Awards highlight the oft-unmentioned goodwill of grocers that serve and shape our communities.

To practice more mindfulness, I recently started listing out three things that bring me happiness or make me feel grateful every day. While my opinion may be biased, I have a great deal of appreciation for the food industry and the various acts of generosity that food retailers perform for their communities.  </p> </div> <div> <p paraid="1883506139" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{136}">Our Community Outreach Awards highlight the oft-unmentioned goodwill of grocers that serve and shape our communities. This awards program showcases the good that grocery stores across the country are doing in local communities. From neighborhood improvement programs to youth development and hunger relief programs, the stories of grocery stores contributing to the communities they service are truly exemplary.  </p> </div> <div> <p paraid="922591789" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{150}">FMI is excited to kick-off the 2020  <a href="http://www.fmi.org/about-us/awards-and-community-outreach/fmi-community-outreach-awards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Community Outreach Awards</a> as a way of tipping our hat to the longstanding food retailer tradition of serving as cornerstones in their communities and noted supporters of neighborhood civic action.  </p> </div> <div> <p paraid="1122607665" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{173}">We invite grocers to share the various ways they are doing good by submitting an entry in any of the four categories of the <a href="http://www.fmi.org/about-us/awards-and-community-outreach/fmi-community-outreach-awards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Community Outreach Awards</a>. Our categories include:  </p> </div> <div> <ul role="list"> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" aria-setsize="-1" data-aria-posinset="1" role="listitem" data-aria-level="1"> <p paraid="1227218640" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{203}">Youth Development Programs: Events and activities focusing on education, employment, job readiness, mentoring or tutoring </p> </li> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" aria-setsize="-1" data-aria-posinset="2" role="listitem" data-aria-level="1"> <p paraid="1098178719" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{221}">Programs Addressing Hunger: These include food drives, food bank donation programs, commitments to increase access to fresh food in underserved areas </p> </li> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" aria-setsize="-1" data-aria-posinset="3" role="listitem" data-aria-level="1"> <p paraid="1203027638" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{237}">Neighborhood Health Improvement Programs: Such as blood drives, health related runs/walks, sustainability and nutrition education </p> </li> </ul> </div> <div> <p paraid="76914707" paraeid="{9946e476-27d4-49c5-8398-311fd94c110f}{253}">FMI proudly contributes a $1,000 donation to the three top programs and will also include $300 to honorable mention recipients in each category.
