State of Emergency Consumers Sales and Service Tax and Use Tax Exemptions |

Governor Joe Manchin signed an Executive Order which would exempt certain items from the consumers sales and service tax and use tax. This order was signed in an effort to grant relief to victims of the recent flooding in southern West Virginia, including Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming Counties. A copy of this order is attached for you.
This exemption includes building construction materials and supplies used or consumed in the repair, restoration, reconstruction or replacement of structures damaged by flooding. We have attached a list of materials and supplies that are exempt during this time for you. Please note that there is a listing for "other supplies for flood relief, including but not limited to bottled water and cleaning supplies," which will affect our retail members. The attached order has directions on the bottom portion, which will explain to your customers how they may get a refund on these types of purchases.
