If you were a child living with a potentially life-threatening condition, what would put a smile on your face? That’s the question representatives from the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA) want to see answered during its August campaign to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.
If you were a child living with a potentially life-threatening condition, what would put a smile on your face? That’s the question representatives from the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA) want to see answered during its August campaign to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.Jan Vineyard, President of OMEGA, which represents convenience stores, independent grocers and petroleum marketers in the state, said, “There are far too many children suffering from life-threatening conditions right here in our own backyard. OMEGA wants to help, even if in a small way, put a smile on these kids faces and give them something to look forward to. I would encourage individuals who see the campaign in their local convenience or grocery stores to join us.” Vineyard said OMEGA has partnered with both the southern and northern chapters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise funds that will be used to grant children’s wishes. Wish stars will be sold for one dollar at nearly 1,000 OMEGA-member convenience stores and grocery stores across the state from Aug. 1 – Aug. 30. The association will also hold a golf tournament in September to raise additional funds. Heather Galloway, Regional Manager for Make-A-Wish Southern West Virginia, said, “When we meet a wish child, we ask them, ‘If you could go anywhere, be anything, meet anyone, or have anything…what would it be?’ When a child answers this question, a wish is born. With OMEGA’s help, many more children in our region will have the opportunity to answer those questions and experience the hope, strength and joy that comes with them. We are very thankful for their participation.” For additional information, contact Jan Vineyard at (304) 343-5500,
